Description

Apple has confirmed plans to expand its Apple Intelligence feature with support for more languages by 2025. The company announced that German, Italian, Korean, Portuguese, and Vietnamese will join the list of supported languages. This adds to previously confirmed languages including Chinese, French, Japanese, and Spanish.

Initially, Apple Intelligence will launch in the U.S., available in English with the release of iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and macOS Sequoia 15.1 in October. However, users who purchase the new iPhone 16, shipping this Friday, won’t have immediate access to the feature until these software updates are released.

In December, Apple Intelligence will expand to localized English versions in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa, and the UK. Additionally, it will reach India and Singapore in English by next year, with more language support to be announced later.

One significant aspect of this rollout is its limited availability in certain regions. Apple has confirmed that Apple Intelligence will not initially be offered in the European Union or mainland China. Although users may have access to French or Portuguese versions of the feature, it won’t be available if they are located in France or Portugal.

"Apple Intelligence will not currently work if you are in the EU and if your Apple ID Country/Region is also in the EU," the company clarified in a support article. However, users traveling outside the EU can access the tools if their device and Siri language are set to a supported language.

Similarly, Apple Intelligence will not be accessible on iPhones purchased in mainland China, nor will users traveling to China with an iPhone from another region be able to use the feature if their Apple ID is set to China.
